I am having a terrible time picking colors to request for my 2 month group. Do you think it is to general to say pick colors from the fabric and go with that. I am worried I will have to many different colors since the fat eights are different prints

terriamn, from past experience for me....you will get every color in your print and most likely all different shades. Sometimes it makes it very difficult to put a quilt together. Just my opinion

Oh no doubt you will have many variations of all the colors you pretty much have to count on that being the case. Depending on the look you are going for it could be awesome. You could use a white or grey to unify the whole thing or continue with the scrap theme and make scrappy string sashing to pull it together.

Or ask for a particular color to not be used thats in the fabrics like yellows and use that to pull it together

If I were you and did that I would state one color not to use so that I had an option for sashing.

I would say pick one color and a neutral or two colors and a neutral to tie it all together.

You can also say add only brights please and no black and white.

It also all depends what you plan on doing with the blocks. If they all go in a quilt it would be nice maybe to have something tie it all together like white on white, so you could ask for add white only and or any colors in the my fabric.

Maybe post the fabrics and ask people for ideas and then lay out some fabrics like it at home to give you an idea if you would like that color scheme.

I hope that was helpful.

what helped me was to look at quilts online and the old swap pictures where all returned blocks from one swapper are posted together.
