wow, amazing, I hope all those baby quilts I've given away are earning their keep. I wonder if the parents knew their value. I hand quilted all of them, some with feathers in circles, squares and hearts with long feather borders.
I'd love to know what they are going for now.

Good for you. I'm going to have to start making small quilts.

FYI you may need to use a smaller size photo t post. If you took photo with your iPhone then reduce size

Last month our quilt guild had 2 appraisers come and talk about quilts that some of our members brought in. One of the quilts was a baby quilt. The appraiser explained that baby quilts and doll quilts can be worth more than some full size quilts because of their rarity. We looked at each other in surprise as Carl's mother had recently given us the doll quilt her mother had made for her when she was 3 years old. That makes the quilt 80 years old. Right after guild we signed up to have them appraise the quilt the next day. They were both very impressed with it. The 9 patch blocks are 1" squares and are hand pieced as is the rest of the interior of the quilt. The borders and binding are machine stitched but it is hand quilted. We received the appraisal in the mail today and almost fainted. The 19" square dolly quilt was appraised at $325.00 and they commented that the market is very soft right now. I took a picture of it with my iPad and tried to upload it with this post but it keeps saying the upload failed.
When a photo upload fails it usually means the picture has too many pixels -- resize and choose "to medium" and you'll be fine. I just right-click on the photo and a resizer comes up like magic...

I heard a lecture by one quilt appraiser and she said mini quilts were usually more valuable then bed size quilts. Not that many small quilts made back in the day.

If you can resize that picture, we'd love to see it.

What do you know. This is good information to have. I have made many baby and doll quilts. They are so much fun to do and go much faster, so I can finish them in one fell sweep. I am working on a raggey ann right now for my niece who is due this month.
