Sorry I haven't been able to do much chatting here. My computer finally is letting me on. Wouldn't let me type and send. I'm a fairly new quilter at 4 years. I like to do traditional blocks but am about to spread my wings and try something more modern. I found a pattern with circles that I plan to use with a bright orange paisley that I found i my mothers stash It took forever to figure out what would work

I use Quilt In A Day's Flying Geese ruler (the small one, mostly) for making flying geese, cutting the fabric squares a smidge larger than the instructions say, since I like a little wiggle room. They come out super-accurate, and if you have directional fabric, the four geese come out perfectly ... all facing the right way so you can put one on each side of a block (like in a Sawtooth Star block). And there's almost no wasted fabric, other than the smidgens I trim off!

I've been getting my sewing room ready for when the F8s arrive. My fabric is scattered EVERYWHERE, even in the guest bedroom. It's almost like getting birthday gifts, though, when I find "new" fabric that I forgot I had!

Grandma Di, Well, we're glad you are up and running now. I've suddenly developed a strong "like" of orange; maybe it will become love one day. When you get something done in the orange paisley, please post a pic. I'm definitely interested in what others are doing with it.

Heck I even like this version TG
molly love your quilt
i am visiting my Mom so sad to see her declining. Even though Mom is in assisted living she relies totally on my sister, who lives a few blocks away. Both are worn out and pretty much at their wits end. Sometimes you just have to laugh or you would cry. When I'm not playing Farkle with Mom I help my sister with her quilting. Other then Mom's health it has been a nice visit

I saw one (snails/storm at sea) on another website the other day that was stunning. It's on the growing list of quilts "to do".

I'm sorry to hear about your mom's decline. It's tough being a caregiver, no doubt. And it's not easy being the one who can't be there as often. Neither is a good position for you and your sister. Hugs...
