Question Looking for pattern help

Hey!

I am looking to make my best friend a queen size quilt for her 15th anniversary. Her wedding colors were lilac and black so I'd be using those colors to make the quilt. Any suggestions on a quilt pattern that will work best for having minimal colors?

Do a search on here for two color quilts. Lots of good ideas!

A good 2 colour quilt is the Disappearing Hourglass. I did a tutorial on a 12-1/2 sure block in QB tutorials, type the title - Disappearing Hourglass 12 and 1/2 in the search box. You can also find a YouTube tutorial by the Missouri Star quilt co. on a smaller block. There are many versions of this quilt pattern on QB also.

How about Hunter's Star. Perfect for two colors.

It depends on if you want to tackle a harder or an easier quilt. I thought the third quilt on the top row was attractive:

Something easy is this Colorsplash quilt (my avatar) I made from purple florals (bottom of the photo)or a bargello which is mine that was photographed for the Bargello Quilt book. I made it on the back cover of the 2nd edition of the book.

There was just a beautiful Carpenter's Star here in pictures a couple of days ago. If you check out the colors (there are 7 prints), you could use the black and different shades of purple. I have made a Hunter's Star and it would make a great 2 color quilt but, IMHO, it would be too dark. How nice of you to make this for your friend.

I always liked this one when I saw it here on the board. Very nice quilt indeed!

The Burgoyne Surrounded is a wonderful two color quilt.
