IMHO...the absolute worst sheets ever are the microfiber ones. They pill terribly and feel like sleeping on sand. Just my 2 cents.

My favorite brand of sheets is now an Amazon brand, Pinzon. I've bought standard cotton sheets and flannel sheets and I really like both types from them. The flannel is thick and fluffy and so far no pills after about 2 years - hands down my absolute favorite sheets. LOVE them. The standard cotton sheets are pretty good too, I generally prefer flannel but the flat cotton is pretty smooth and nice feeling. I've only had those about 6 months so far and they're holding up well, maybe a little more stiff than I'd prefer but overall pretty nice.
