Default Illusion or Shadow quilt

I bought these charm squares when they were a special daily deal on MSQC with the intention of doing a shadow quilt.

I have looked thru Google and have not found any instructions on width of the shadow. Did Jenny ever doing an illusion quilt with charms?? Or should I just adjust the half cut layer cakes into the size of charm squares. THANKS!

Yes Jenny did an Illusion quilt video with square layer cake (but cut in half) the original Shadow Box pattern was rectangles. I think the size of the rectangles or squares and the shadows can be any size you want them to be.

What a beautiful set of charms! I have seen several of these completed quilts. The shadow looked to be 1" finished.

I looked on my MSQC app and Jenny did a video tutorial on the illusion quilt block. You can probably bring it up on utube and watch and she will give you all instruction you need. It is a rectangle.

Shadows depend on the time of day and the season of the year. They need not be static in your work.

I have made this quilt using 5" squares. I cut my shadow at 1 1/2", with a 1" finish. Worked really well.

Thanks IraJane. That is what I wanted to know. Just got them all done. I think I will attach the white as sashing because it is easier to nest your seams then how Jenny does it on her video.
