[QUOTE=Cari-in-Oly;7558609]Holy cr** Annette, how did she not notice a whole spool of thread gone missing?

This goes on my wall of shame as, "You'd think she would notice if that much thread was just... gone." LOL!

Oh man, I litterally laughed out loud at that one! Me thinks it was more a matter of attention blindness: didn't see where the top thread was going because they where watching what they where sewing. That is a LOT of thread to just go missing, though.

I'm not one to jest much at things like this, I lost my keys for a few moments only to find them on my phone chain on where I keep them so they won't get lost. It's happened several times. That's why they stay on the phone chain. And why my phone is on a chain. Wallet's on a chain too. They aren't fasion statements - they're leashes!

My grandson Walter could manage to wrap a spool of thread like that and nobody would know.

Update... My neighbor came and got her machine tonight. I didn't feel like I knew enough to take that knob apart. Looked like I'd have to remove the shaft from the back. She's going to visit her daughter, where there's a Viking dealer, and will see if they can help her.

Sometimes sewing machine maintenance can have some down right funny stuff. Another one of my favorites is the "felt blanket" under the feed dogs. You know... when she says, "my fabric won't feed through."
