Thank-you dj and sister swappers. I'm waiting patiently for my package too. I'm so looking forward to looking at the pretty candy. Until then back to my candy log cabin.

I prefer pink & purple so....
too big for camera, must keep it flat until dry.

Now must sandwich & attempt to do the actual applique, scary for me.
Hope sis in Cali can help in late Sept. Will post on Picture thread when finished. Thanks for looking!
hugs,
dj

DJ, I am nearing the sandwiching stage of a portrait quilt I did of my daughter. I am literally scared to death to quilt it! It looks so realistic and beautiful and I am not the world's greatest at quilting. I don't want to ruin it.

Anyway, I met a couple of quilty friends through this board who live very close to me and I am considering calling upon them for some moral support and personal hand holding while I "struggle" through the quilting process. That is why I love QB so much! You meet people who share your passion and when you find out they are neighbors as well.... bonus points all around

WholeheartMom, you are an inspiration to me, applique mentor is more than 100 miles away, must seek local mentor, Thank You!
It is raw edge & must be sewn all around then define each leaf and petal. Must use solid color backing to show work (opposite view though). It is quite daunting for me. I was able to buy colored thread on sale before Hancock's closed, whew, saved a bunch. We shall see how it turns out, just don't expect perfection from me, not even qualified to be called a novice - true beginner is more like it, even with that Saturday class it took last year!
Ya'll let me know when those packages start arriving, so hopeful that you enjoyed this swap.
hugs,
dj

Needless to say it took longer to make. I'm done with the top and will send it to be quilted in a few months. I like the way it turned out. I'm only 2 projects behind. Will start on those in a week or 2. I have several other ideas for my blocks.
I do not use Batiks scraps for anything. I have some batik scraps. Wuld you like some 2 1/2" squares of them? I can certainly put them in an envelope and send them your way if you want to send me a pm with your address. I don't have a whole lot, but some.

We'll just need to support each other. Like you, I am great at piecing and fusing down applique but well... not so great at quilting and sewing down the applique pieces. I will be sandwiching today and starting the sewing down process tomorrow! Wish me luck and I will be cheering you on all the way. If you hear a dull roar from the sidelines, its just me shouting "Go DJ Go!" ")
