Awesome quilt... I agree maybe a raffle would bring the best price.

A raffle seems like a great idea to raise money for such a quilt. Hope it brings both lots of money and lots of joy to the new owner.

Our local thrift store often has raffles to raise more money then what they would normally get. They also do a silent bid. where the person with the highest price wins.Of course thats what they pay as well. You could try ebay and put a minimum bid on it. That way if you dont get what you want you can try another method.

BREATHTAKING. What a find. I also think you should do a raffle or auction it off. Definitely worth more than $5, which I am sure the person who offer that amount knew.

that is beautiful, i think you should raffle it to, i think you could get more than $500 out of it, i thinking more of $1000, you could put it on e-bay and maybe get even more than that for it

after reading what everyone thinks of raffling the quilt I agree that raffling it off is a good idea.

All I can say is don't give it away for $5. It is beautiful.

Maybe take it to a LQS and see what sort of price tag they put on it. You never know, someone there might be willing to pay $$$$$ for it
good idea about taking it to the LQS

It's lovely. Not my style at all but I still appreciate the workmanship. Glad your mother held out and didn't let it go for $5. Maybe she could try an online auction?

Not much in the store has set prices, so the volunteer at the front has to decide if the offer made for items are reasonable.
==================================================

I strongly urge the shop manager(s) to get together a committee to decide on
EACH and EVERY gift to that shop. This is not a "make an offer" type of world,
and since this money is desperately needed, a fair price should be charged.

Should you be able to get someone who is familiar with GoodWill or Salvation Army's currant prices, that one would be a big help.

But just glancing at an object and guessing a price is not business like and should immediately stopped.

Since I am an active shopper in thrift stores and have gotten bragging finds,
just tell me where you are located. Sure hope it is near me!!
