Default What's Your Organizing Goal from This Weekend through 9/18?

    Hi everybody,
Looking forward to hearing about your new goal or goals. This week, I'd like to gather and organize my supplies for different purposes, specifically for: sewing hexagons, punch needle, and embroidery. We are beginning to think about our trek southward and having everything in its place should ensure that I take what I need with me.
    So, what are your goals?

I want to put away the books and magazines that I've drug out in the last couple of weeks. Then maybe I can start sewing on the denim mock cathedral window quilt. Last week I found a bunch of batting scraps that I cut into 4 1/2" squares for the denim quilt. It is a slow but sure process! Of course I found the batting scraps while looking for my knitting needles, which I haven't found yet. I did find the embroidery software I was looking for a month ago. Guess I'm not the most organized person am I?

To get to a stopping place on the quilts I have in progress and put them away, and start making the items I need to sell at my big fall craft fair in three weeks. I want to have some vintage repro aprons this year.

Organize patterns! I am re-purposing a small 3-drawer plastic cart I had in the garage and now will use it under my cutting table for patterns. I am also purging them and will donating apparel patterns I know I will never use. It is the first step in my sewing room re-org. I have been having company (my sewing room is also the guest room) which meant all the sewing stuff got shoved into the closet and my machine closed into the cabinet. I've also been helping a friend clean out his late wife's sewing room and in the process acquired some of it for myself. So, I need to make room for it.

I'm moving into an empty apartment. I'm so sick of renters. I had an opportunity to rent it out, but I'm retired now and it is mine.

It's an old doctors office and I have a three doored closet. There is just enough room under the shelf for a metal rack. I have two more to put together and get all my stash organized!!.

So my goal is to get the metal racks up and enough tubs to hold the scraps.

Last week, I worked on cutting kits that I have purchased so they will be ready to sew and hopefully I will get them done this winter. I feel guilty buying anything new when I see all the kits I haven't completed yet. I managed to get 6 kits cut and have at least 3 more to go.
My goal this week is to cut out the two smaller kits, and do a quick look through my sewing treasures to see if there is anything I want to donate to my guild auction later this month. I need to be honest with myself and with things I know I will never use or have lost interest in, I need to donate. I always think, well, I might need this (or finish this) someday...
I also want to find some time to sew!
i am really enjoying seeing everyone's goals!

My organizing goal for this week is to go through my bins of stamp sets and decide which ones I will be selling on a friend's garage sale. I was a Stamping' Up! demonstrator or 11 years before moving to quilting. Let's just say I have an entire room of stamping equipment. Very little of it is useful in quilting.

try to get clear tubs and label them. Index cards taped to the inside are great for labels.

I've started going thru things in my sewing room. Gone thru magazines and given away or donated what I don't want or won't use anymore. I went thru fabric and pulled pieces to donate to a group that makes little dresses for girls around the world. Now I will purge patterns. I've also made six race quilts for nieces & nephews who have lost their Dads to cancer. In doing that, I have used up two totes of 2 1/2" and 3" strips and now I'm using up 5" squares to make a quilt. My piles seem to be going down - a good feeling. My next goal is to use any small kits, etc. - either use, give away or donate to a thrift store. Seriously, I'm really going to do this -

Great goals! I, too, sew in a guest room and that presents new challenges for organizing and keeping projects straight.
