Beautiful!! I love the 3D effect. And your dog. Oh, my, goodness, what a sweet face and his coloring. I want my next dog to look like him (her?). No suggestions on how to quilt. It's always my hardest decision.

Maybe I should just have it professionally done???
Awesome quilt! So very beautiful.
Is there a tute for doing this? Would like to try the pattern.

Lovely piecing!

I would quilt in the same color as the background so the piecing stays the focus. The downside of that is that whatever quilting you do isn't going to show up very much. But what can I say? I just love feathers, so I'd do red feathers in the red portions & grey "fancy scallops" (Cindy Needham does these -- they're a basic scallop with a line down the center & 2 arcs going from the center to either side) in the grey/black/white sections.

I went back & forth on the center heart. You could do trapunto to raise it up, or maybe fill with either cross hatching or pebbles. I just wasn't sure on that.

CSharp, Google "heart quilting" and look at some of those designs.

Very pretty. I mainly do FMQ. I like the looks and love doing it.

Bree123..I do fmq and have some experience with feathers, and that would be my first choice, but I don't know if I am brave enough to go for your suggestion, but it sure looks like a plan. The back is to be a soft gray and white pattern. I enjoyed every part of doing this quilt...so far.

Great job, so beautiful. I agree with Tartan, I would go down the middle of the squares along the pattern of the heart shape. But it is your quilt and if you are wanting a professional just go for it. Whatever you do, it will be beautiful!

I agree with sewing through the middle of the patch and following the pattern. It would emphasize the heart all the more, which is very lovely. Great job.
