I agreed with Yngldy. And if your machine has a serpentine stitch on it; that would be very useful in doing the "wavy straight" stitch.

I tend to like to use curves when the quilt is so linear. My first thought is to do a wavy line from edge to edge thru the small squares and to do some sort of circle, flower or spiral in the larger blocks that are made up of 2 HSTs. I would use a variegated jewel tones thread. I love your colors, I keep seeing different patterns - random and yet planned. Good work!

Beautiful top! I always watch for everyone's ideas on the quilting. I learn by watching posts like this one. Thank you

I like the straight line idea.

I think the suggestion of quilting other diagonal lines would work very well. The quilt has such strong diagonal lines that I would suggest using those lines for emphasis.

This is exactly what I would do. Plus, there are some really pretty feather stencils that you could apply in doing the wider, space area in between the tiny squares.

I love your quilt. I also think that quilting on the diagonal would be great.

Every batting has a requirement of how far apart your quilting should be. Most will say something like ' Can quilt up to 6 inches apart. Every batting has a different number they recommend that will keep their product from causing any future problems in use or washing. Trust me, I learned the hard way once.

Hi Marion, Love, love love, this quilt. Yes check your batting. There are instructions on the bag/ wrapper that will tell you how far apart the quilting can be done and the batting will not fail inside the quilt. Different bats have different requirements.

Use your straight line quilting talent. Choose several of the places randomly on the top where you see "9 patches" stand out and quilt around the '9P". Then go back and in areas to fill in do the diagonal quilting through the small squares, your original idea.

You can give this beauty a modern look by making the quilting random and not totally do every line of squares. Just take notice that the quilting is balanced over the whole quilt. If some of the diagonal quilting intersects the "9P"s that would be okay and look cool.

I hope my description is even a little understandable or might give you other ideas.
peace

Beautiful top, beautiful colors. I mainly do FMQ and that is how I quilt most quilts.
Since you don't do FMQ, I have no ideas.
