Default Janine bobbin holder

I have been having trouble with my Janome machine needing to replace the bobbin holder more often to the tune of $35.00 each time. I went on line to learn this happened to machines bought 2011-2012,just about the age of my machine.Has this happened to anyone else..do I have any recourse? I hate to trade it in only to pass the problem on to another sewer.Any ideas? Thanks in advance to all.

Oh my, what Janome do you have? I have the MC6600P and have never needed to replace the bobbin holder. I have had the machine since 2010.

Did you buy your machine from a dealer? If so, contact them. If you didn't, have you contacted Janome to see if they have found a fix for the problem?

What they don't tell you in the Janome Manual or from most dealers is that many of these no oil needed Janomes actually do need a drop or two of oil in the little oil wick in the bobbin case. There is a little hole in about the 10 o'clock position with what looks like lint in there that is the oil wick. My bobbin case would rattle and bounce and jam and I put my needle right through it before I found out about that **** oil wick! Just give it a drop or two of oil everytime it sounds noisy.

Every sewing machine needs oil in some places. When the dealer says not to oil they intend for you to bring it back for a check up once a year and that is when it gets oiled. I have a Bernina and have watched the tech do a cleaning. The machine gets a good oiling. Machine oil is made to evaporate so it doesn't gum up inside the machine. Many of the machines have embedded silicone that releases when the machine is sewing. It's not good to let those machines sit without use for a long period of time. I have a Janome Jem and the bobbin gets a drop of oil every so often.

I've had my 6600 six years this November...(wow does time fly)...I have had to have one bobbin case replacement but I don't consider that troublesome as I use my machine a lot. I do give my machine a drop of oil once in a great while.

Never had a problem with my Janome 6600 bobbin. I also put a drop of oil every once in a while in the bobbin case.

I have replaced mine twice. It's plastic and wears.

Is there a special type of Janome oil that has to be used?

No. Any good sewing machine oil. You can buy a bottle of Singer brand oil at Walmart. Just don't use a household oil like WD40 or 3in1 oil.
