I quilted it last night and found out more about the fabrics. It may be made of fabric samples or the end of bolts. There are markings on some of the pieces and the fabrics are varied- not all cotton. They seem to be from clothing fabric of the time, all quite dirty/dusty on close inspection. Probably not all from the same decade. Here are some pictures taken last night. I'm binding it now, red cotton, all machine binding, quite wide to cover the uneven sides.

Wow. My husband went to the antique shop we have and came home with 3 quilt tops somewhat like yours and are all hand sewen. He got all three for $30.00 I cannot find anything wrong with them.I do hand quilting and do not know what would be better just lines or a design. Looking forward to see what you did.

Finished!!! I'm smileing! I backed it with a sheet I found at a church rummage sale on Saturday for $1. I think my total investment for top, back, and batting and binding is less than $15. I am going to keep this one for me. :-D Thanks to all for the great encouraging comments, you are all the best!
