Has anyone tried Kim Jamieson of Chatterbox Quilts recipe for homemade basting spray in the place of 505? I think I'm going to give it a try here next month. I'm a bit worried about mold though, so I guess I'll have to quilt it fast If you have any experience with this method, please share Thank you!

I read about it on her website. That doesn't sound appealing to me. Read the comments. Have you tried drizzling elmers washable school glue? If you de use to try it let us know how it works for you.

I watched the video and you can try it on a sample sandwich. Since it has alcohol in it, I don't think it would mold but I would watch to see if it bleached bright colours. Let us know how you make out.

I'll stick with the 505. I buy it at Walmart. That is easier then making a batch but I will make some if I run out and in a bind.

I don't think you'll have to worry about mold unless you plan to leave the sandwich for months before you quilt it or have it somewhere like a garage where it's not climate controlled.

I have not been able to master the washable glue 'drizzle' so I would like to know how the homemade spray works out. I had not heard of this and thank you for posting

Once it is dry, it will never mold any more than corn starch will mold in your cupboard.

I forget that not everywhere is as damp as we are here. It would mold in my garage if left there for a while. Everything molds here.
