Default Looking for Bernina 930 Record Adjuster's manual

I've had a bad experience from downloading the user's manual from a site, that seized up my computer. I am taking the easy route, looking for the adjuster's manual. I still haven't solved my feed dogs down issue. There is a lever on the front of the machine that drops or raises the feed dogs. I can see that when they are raised, they only come up a tiny bit. The bar that pivots and raises them moves freely. I can manually raise them. No screws are loose. I am stuck. Unfortunately, I cannot find an OSMG in the Chicagoland area. There is a huge multi-machine dealer with repair service, but their whole goal is to sell you a new machine. There is a big singer repair place in the city I could call. For budget reasons, I really prefer to solve this one myself if possible. Right now, wish it was a Singer.

    Thanks,
    Maggie

There is a Yahoo group calles BerninaThirtySomethings, the adjusters manual might be there, at least help is to be found. If you suspect something might be wrong with the circuit board a willing computer guy can do just as good a job as a Bernina specialist. I don't know about the feed dogs, but I'm sure it can be sorted out.

You can also try over at the Victoriansweatshop.com site. They have lots of manuals there for download. Very trusted site. Or you can post your question/issue and I'm sure someone probably has the answer for you as well.

Here's a picture. You need to loosen the two screws where the screwdriver is. Then you put two fingers behind that linkage (to hold it in place), and lift the feed dogs up with the other hand. The feed linkage on these Berninas is kinda squirrel-y, so you have to hold the linkage behind the screws. Then pray that the old oil hasn't frozen them in place too much. When the needle plate/throat plate is on, the feed dogs should be high enough, but the valleys in the teeth should be a even with the needle plate. Tighten one screw to hold it in place while you put the needle/throat plate back on to check your height.

It looks like there are several Bernina dealers in the Chicago area. Any Bernina dealer should be able to work on a 930.
