I saw a quilt in a shop in Colorado Springs that featured using the decorative stitches. They offered a class. I like what your did. My question is about the thread. Did you use a single type of thread in different colors or did you use a variety of thread fibers, weights as well as colors? This technique would seem to have endless applications.

Hi, quilterpurpledog. I used several different brands of polyester embroidery threads. They were all 40 weight, but I think it would be tons of fun to use some heavier threads as well. In another piece that I am working on sporadically, I couched down fine rat tail cording and embroidery floss for extra texture.
