    Default First Quilt

My DGD, who will be 6 in May, and I spent the winter learning to sew straight seams on scraps, learning to iron (with those 4 inch irons). I got her a beginner sewing lesson book for Christmas and showed her how to hand stitch with a big needle and pearl cotton. So here is here first quilt...she picked the fabrics and sewed on turtle speed. My only contribution was folding the corners on the binding, and sitting by her reminding her to "put the foot down." And listing the steps of course. She plans on giving it to her sister for her first birthday in June. She is so proud!

Oh Jane! You must be SOOO proud! She did a great job. Look at the happiness shining from her. She is absolutely precious! I hope to someday have the same opportunity. GREAT job in passing down a skill that will give her memories for a lifetime!!!

Aww, look at her!! Bursting with pride and joy! I love seeing the fabrics she chose -- sunshine and light bulb match her personality! And the flowers... she loves to see things grow, and the globe-- she cares about the world. How heartwarming that she wants to give her quilt to her sister. That's a generous, kind, and thoughtful girl. What precious memories you're making with your darling granddaughter, Jane!
