Beautiful creations. We create with our hands. I also don't think of all work as negative. I LOVE 'working' on a quilt but I hate house 'work' .

My sentiments exactly. To me quilts are a 'work of love'. I don't have a problem with the word 'work'.

cashsmom - my thoughts exactly. Work is what you make of it.

Hub did his master's thesis on 'The Nature of Work'. One of his points was even our Creator 'worked' and was pleased with his results!

Well, how about a play on words? Instead of calling it work, we could call it a "joule" which is
the The International System unit of electrical, mechanical, and thermal energy, Most of the time I think of my finished quilt as a "jewel" and it has definitely required electrical, mechanical, and thermal energy (my brain heats up, my emotions are warmed, and sometimes my temper sparks).

It's funny how the word "work" affects people. When it comes to quilting, I consider it play until I mess up. Sewing is play. Unsewing is work. Choosing fabrics is play. Figuring out the math is work.

Good point. I have been known to be lazy enough that sometimes I find it easier and less hassle to start over on a part rather than rip things out. I try not to unless I am really short on that fabric.

And you are right....for me...that is WORK. And no fun at that!

I think the 'work' has a very positive connotation. I do agree that it has many applications. However, when we use it in reference to someone's quilt it always denotes an appreciation of someone's skill in completing a artful quilt.

Creations are "works of art". This could be an oil painting, a pie, or a quilt.
