I use a lot of flannel for backs and ragged flannel quilts.

I make all our flannel pillowcases for winter. They are so soft and snuggly.

I made several receiving blanket for my grandchildren and they are so much warmer and larger than the ready made ones.

I also like to use flannel for the backing in the kids' quilts I make for charity. Seems to make them warmer than cotton.

I like to use flannels as batting it insulated well and is also light weight. I always wash them before using to make sure it will stand up to usde this way.

I have used flannel instead of a thin batting inside a quilted vest I made for myself. I forgot about that, when I answered before.

Or ... do you prefer not use flannels at all?

What about brushed cottons (such as Moda offers)?
I made a brick road quilt by Fons & Porter out of flannel and it is on my bed. Very WARM in this cold weather we have.

I made this quilt out of Benartex flannels. I gave it to my grandmother for Christmas last year. It was super soft and cuddly.

I have made several flannel quilts, so soft and cuddly. The first one, I hand pieced and hand quilted for my husband. I used a flannel back and warm and natural batting. Way too heavy! We laughed about it, he said he couldn't move when the quilt was on top of him. For the others I made, I used polyester batting and did all the work on my Bernina.
