I have the Shape Cut, Shape Cut Plus, & Stripology, and mostly use the first two. The Shape Cut I've had for years, and I use it mostly when I'm not making alot of strips and the Plus when I have to cut alot of strips since its 18". I marked both with a nail polish dot at the 2.5" intervals since this is the most frequent cut I make & this makes cutting several strips at once much easier since I can see right away which slots to use. I'll use the Stripology occasionally, but prefer the JT rulers.

I'm with you. I started with the June Tailors when I took a class a few years ago. Then CG came out with the Stripology rulers and I fell in love. In fact, I just used my Stripology ruler to do some prep work on a group project and also an individual project. I tend to use it when I need just a few strips and using my Accuquilt is kind of overkill for just a couple of strips.

One more ? do you cut single layer fabric, or double or more fabric at a time?

I have cut single layers, double layers, and up to 8 layers with a 60 mm rotary cutter using my Stripology ruler.

I usually cut 4 layers at a time. When you fold fabric, be careful to have every fold *exactly* parallel to the Shape Cut line. This means all of your cuts will be exactly 90 degrees from the fold. This is important in order not to have bends in the fabric. You can test this out with a piece of paper. Fold the paper, then cut a strip that is not 90 degrees. The further away from 90 degress the cut is, the deeper the bend will be when you unfold the paper. When you cut exactly 90 degrees from the fold (meaning exactly perpendicular to the fold), the unfolded strip will be even. It is pretty easy to line up one fabric fold with the cutting mat; it is more difficult to align 2 folds, as each fold has to be exactly the same distance from the other at every point.

I love the June Tailor strip cutter; the only problem is that I picked it up on the edge and it cracked. I didn't know I needed to use both hands and didn't realize the plastic would crack.

Ditto. I use the 12x12 as well. I wore it out (and the stepped on it &#128580 had to replace it. It's smaller but quick and handy to use. Also have the SC pro which is good if your cuts are divisible by 2.5. Easy to store too.

I have one and like it. I do use a weight on it to hold it down. Just habit as I do it with regular rulers too.

I love this ruler(?). I bought it more than 20(?) years ago and didn't use it much, if at all. 2 years ago got a bright idea, and pulled it out. I haven't looked back. I want the larger one but can't find it and the cost would make me hesitate if I found it. I see Joann's has the 12" for $40+. I'm not familiar with CG's, and I don't imagine it would be on sale enough for me. I did think if Joann's had it, and a 60% coupon..... My biggest issue besides some slipping, is fitting the blade into the slot at the beginning. Since no one else has mentioned this they may have improved that.

I did this too, but duct tape stabilized it for me. Unless that is duck tape.
