QBuddy and I have started a new quilt...Tic Tac Sew...uses 1 1/2" and 3 1/2" cuts...She's doing hers in country browns, greens, reds and creams. I'm using brights and a gray white small scale print for the backgrounds. We've been cutting and stealing from each other's stash...Hope to be ready to sew when we meet next month. I got lots of small pieces cut down and almost done. She's using all scrappy so her raid of my fabric has helped reduce my scraps as well... Should be able to put my mess off the dining room table..good thing as I have company for noon tomorrow!

I had one of 'those' boxes a few weeks ago. It had donated squares, 'smaller than a fat quarter' pieces, 2.5 " bias fabric rolls, plus some leftover sewn strips from the giver's projects. I sorted and put them in the appropriate drawers. Some of the strips are being used in scrappy strip blocks and the sewn strips, I cut into squares and triangles for an orphan block quilt top.

It felt good to get 'that box' emptied. I still have more though.

I finally will be able to go to my church quilting group tomorrow and our leader told me she has more scraps for me. Lol! I probably will come home with more scraps from another volunteer group this week also.

Good thing my subbing in school is over until after Labor Day! I need to keep sewing.

P.S. I even used the box that I emptied and put card stock and scrapbook paper in it and gave it to my friend. Reuse/repurpose-it's out of my house.

Well I got my yard all straightened up ( fairly good) anyway. Middle grandson has been here for a few days working. He's not quite 14. Loves to ride 4 wheeler so as a great he gets to ride. He's been looking at a lot of his grandpa's stuff. My husband was an auction fiend. He was always on the look out for stuff, not just for himself but for others, including me. Now I can get back to organizing my garage. Finished my part time job for the June area survey so now just need to get electric in n insulation

Connie-- good for you, love the reuse, repurpose and get it out of the house idea.

Amyjo--getting a yard organized is hard work, glad your grandson was there to help. How's the garage coming? You're going to enjoy having that studio space.

I'm not sure if it counts as organizing, but today I'm going to try to get caught up on my temperature quilt. I am a whole month behind and need to sew the HSTs for May. The organizing part involves recording the high and low temps for May and then pulling the correct fabric colors for those temps. Then I will start on June....

Rob: I was wondering if anyone was still doing the temperature quilts. I wish I had started one when it was suggested, but I didn't.

Can you imagine the vivid reds and oranges for those folks in AZ? Wowza!

I am going to try and organize my precuts this weekend. I have 2.5" squares, 5" charms, 2.5" strips, 1.5" triangles (don't ask me why, ugh), and a few tumblers. They are all kitty-wompass all over the place and I'd like to get them organized.

redstilettos- there are several people doing the temp. quilt on the board. The thread is listed under challenges and contests. Glad I'm not living in AZ right now, though Va. has had it's share of 90's already. I thought when you got older you were supposed to like the hot weather, but the older I get the harder a time I have with the heat.

organizing precuts- go for it, you'll be glad you did.

I've pulled all my crumbs back out and have spent the last couple of days stitching them together willy-nilly to make fabric that will then be incorporated in either modern or art quilts. I really need to organize my home office--it's a mess. Maybe I'll commit to getting that done this week...

I do know if you could call this organizing, but I went through several boxes of fabric and pulled some that I no longer care for. I filled two Walmart bags and gave them to a lady in church who loves to quilt but does not have much money for fabric. I now have a couple of empty boxes. Time to get some more batiks.

Redstilletos...be VERY glad you aren't in AZ, we set records a couple of times last week. Really glad I'm traveling in the Midwest right now; it's been lovely to wake up to cool weather and upper 70's during the day!

Getting closer to finishing the sewing/guest bedroom. One more coat of paint according to the hubs. A little darker than the meringue but called Rite of Spring. It's a soft yellow. The meringue was almost whte. Looked like an apartment color.
