I agree, Fabric Depot is amazing. It's almost sensory overload. If you're looking for something smaller The Pine Needle in Lake Oswego is great. A Common Thread in Tigard on Sequoia Parkway is good, too. That one is not far off I-5. .

Do not take the previous advice lightly. I've driven all the way across the US and back several times taking main roads and side roads, through the Heartland, and skirting the Mexican border to avoid a storm, but driving into and around in Portland is not for the faint of heart.

The Pine Needle in Lake Oswego. It's a little south of Portland, but well worth the 20-minute drive.
