All prayers to all effected by the TS and the aftermath with flooding and tornados. I am glad for the 3 day weekend. I will be finishing up the last few blocks and maybe can do a few bonus blocks. I plan to drop in the mail on Monday so it will really be Tuesday before it is picked up. We are in a heat wave so will be all indoor this weekend.

Stay cool, Lisa!

We had the first pretty day in a week! I think the gloom and rain has finally left. BUT, they say another bad storm is coming in below us, due to hit the U.S. Virgin Islands... and perhaps another storm after that. God, have mercy.

Some of you have the storms and rain and we have the smoke from all the fires. It has rained here but not enough to wet down the forests and hard to reach areas for the fire fighters. Very gray and smokey, sure makes it hard for all those allergies. Seems like all I do is blow my nose and sneeze

Sewbizgirl I started with only 2 pieces. I got that down but not ready just yet to try more pieces. What did you make using them? It would take a lot for a quilt as these patterns at not very big.

My first try were some rectangles with diagonal strips. The two center strips were different widths. It's the blocks you see here in this quilt.... tons and tons of them!

See how the blocks are rectangles, taller than wide, with two diagonal strips? Probably nobody would believe this was a paper pieced quilt, but it was!

Learning to PP is well worth the effort. It comes in so handy for many types of blocks, especially when you learn it well enough that you can draft your own patterns. Some "traditional" blocks can be made in whole or part using PP so much easier then traditional methods. And detailed pictures really can't be done any other way (well except maybe applique)

Hello. She's back home doing squats & lifting 2# weights. (That was yesterday) I spent yesterday in bed trying to find the human being I call me! Might have found her, because I already have had a shower, taken care of the dogs & had a cup of tea. Hoping to finish my last 2 blocks today & get them out on Tuesday!

So so nice to be in my own bed. Can't imagine how those Houston people feel not even having a bed to go home to.
