My favorite straight ruler is also the Line Tamer, second favorite is Accents in Design. The Line Tamer is kind of like training wheels - because you're quilting in the groove there is less chance of losing contact and wobbling off the straight line.

The Handi VersaTool is good for short lines. I like it because it has the 1/4" stop at each end.

I have read some of the recommendations. You will want a ruler that is not too long. When they get too long they are hard to maneuver.

I Absolutely agree with the line tamer ruler. I would be lost without it!
