Default Paper beads

I had never seen of heard of these before but earlier this year I purchased a set of paper beads & ear rings as a birthday gift for my daughter from a lady at a market. I was totally fascinated by them and she explained the process very well. Apparently It is quite an old craft. Wondering if some members have had any experience with them. I don't believe I am about to make this a hobby but I am interested in them.

I saw some of these at our State Fair and thought they were fascinating! But yes, I didn't have any plans to take up the art, either!

I've made the beads but have not done anything with them. Made them just to see how the process works. Check out you-tube. Lots of interesting info. and just to see how people do them.

Reminds me...when my dds were young, going to church summer camp, one of the crafts they did was making beads out of magazines ...somehow cutting those strips from thick to thin, rolling up, gluing....they were cute..and very colorful. Will have to ask one of them if they remember the process...good thing for gg kids to do as a winter project maybe......

I got some made in Africa, as a gift for a donation to an orphanage. They are very colorful, long strings, I love them. I remember my great aunt had some many years ago.

I seen them in paper and fabric beads as well. Have always loved the look, but Thankfully, it is not a craft project I feel compelled to try. It is not often I can say this

I've made them using church bulletins. collect leftover bulletins after church service. Used Modge Podge for the glue & it made them shiny.

I made these years ago and think I still have some around in jewelry, somewhere. Another hobby and fad. I never saw much of them and never made them again.

Really pretty and very creative! I've never heard of them. Like Lynnie, I first thought rosary beads!
