    Default An App for that?

I am looking for an app that allows you to use your phone to see how it would look as One Block Wonder design. I was in a shop and one of the employees showed me how but now I can't remember. I do remember that you simply hold your phone, in camera mode, next to a piece of fabric and you can see what it would look like in OBW. Has anyone else used this app? Can you tell me what it is please? Thanks.

Search for kaleidoscope apps on google. It looks like there are quite a few available. I imagine this is what the shop employee was showing you. I don't believe you will ever find an app that will really show you what a fabric will look like in a OBW, however, since it depends on how you cut the fabric and how you arrange the design. But an app can show a kaleidoscope effect, giving you an idea of how well the fabric will work in a OBW.

I've seen people tape 3 small mirrors together and use that.

This is the most popular website for looking at the outcome. http://oneblockwonder.com/design-helper/
Note, to get an accurate outcome, you have to put in the actual dimensions of the photo so it can get an accurate reading of the size. It uses 3.75 as the size of the cuts, you can change that. It is a great tool!! And is as accurate as the dimensions you put in.

Works fine using two mirrors standing on edge against the fabric.
You can fan them out, to allow for 4, 6, 8, etc reflections.
Not totally accurate, but a pretty darned good idea as to what is to come.

I have used the mirror method when shopping for Stack&Whack fabric. Although mine are just two mirrors taped together on one side to form a "hinge" It's fun to see the effect you can get with different fabrics just by moving the mirrors to different spots.

This is The most amazing helper when trying to decide which fabric to use! It only deals with 6 sided hexies though, so not as useful for the larger 8 piece triangles that you get when you cut a square but it is really useful. The best part of this app is that you can use your phone's browser to pull it up In Store before you purchase. Take a quick pic of the fabric, then upload that into the helper and Voila! You can easily decide if your fabric will work for you or if you need to find a different design.

Shiree ... Welcome to the QB!
While it only does hexies, that would still give you a pretty good idea how the 8-sideds would look.

I'm old school ... and just go with two mirrors stood on end.
Just by moving them around, you can see assorted # reflections to get a sense
as to what an end result might be like.

Mine are just a pair of school locker mirrors, duct taped together ... from the $ $tore!
Actually they are better quality mirrors than the "official" quilt store mirrors .....
    and considerably less co$tly!
