Thank you for bringing this up. On this board, I frequently see where someone typed in Wala, Wa la or some such arrangement for voila. So much for phonetic spelling.

One that did not make the list and perhaps is a Canadian one is saying Fur Sure instead of For Sure.

Some to the examples given relate to spoken words and others to written. The written ones can be challenging for people to rely on spell check.

Years ago people used to say "inarguably" when they were speaking about a fact that could not be disputed. Now most people say "arguably". To me "arguably" means "maybe it is and maybe it isn't".

Most are very easy, some I would not have the occasion to need them or say them.

What bothers me most is misspelled words. Saying to when too is the appropriate word. Spell check is a wonderful thing, especially when the spelling just won't come to me. I use to be a great speller, as I age, not always.

Auto correct likes to "help" us out too at times. Sometimes I will write one thing and auto correct will be sure it's something else.

I see these examples all the time, as people write a lot online, like on this site and Facebook. I also did not know about 'Shoo In'... It's kind of fun to see the origins of some of these sayings.

I'm really grateful for the red zig-zaggy line that appears under a misspelled word, so I have a chance to try again before posting and embarrassing myself! LOL.

NZ, auto-correct drives me crazy. It is especially bad on my phone.

Tothill, I thought "fur sure" was originated by California surfer dudes!
