Default Panel suggestions

I am going to make the Attic Window pattern from MIssouri Star with the deer panel. Need to make larger, especially longer, any suggestions besides just a border. Should be approx 65 x 75-80. Thanks

I've never made one of these but was talking about using a panel with horses on it and was told that putting animals in the panes made them distorted. Could see that if the "window" frames were very wide, but does anyone else now if this is true?

I too planned on doing the pair of deer, but looked at it for 2 years. I decided I would have to cut off parts of the panel so it was not distorted. I could not do that. Instead I did squares of batiks in the coordinating colors and surrounded the panel. I just gave it to my brother and SIL for Christmas. Not an attic windows, but here is how I elongated a panel for a quilt I gave my brother for Christmas. The tree border was a pain to piece, but I really like how it brings out the "woodsy" theme.

I appreciate the comments about using attic windows pattern for using panels with animals. I considered doing it with an elk pattern I am doing for my son's 5oth birthday. I did not consider the distortion factor but it certainly makes sense. I decided on a free pattern from equilter. I like the quilts shown above because they allow you to see the beauty of the panels.

You could make an attic window in the upper half of a farm kitchen door to get extra length. You could even add texture to the bottom half of the door.
