Default Vocabulary help

Sometimes I have problems remembering the names of things. Right now I've got one that is positively bugging me--I cannot remember what a certain type of fabric print is called. I have about 5 yards of a gorgeous blue print that the design runs along the length of the selvage but fades to white by the other selvage. There has got to be a name for this but I'll be darned if I can remember it! Does anyone know what that's called? Silly me, I just cannot remember it!

Ombre is what I think you are talking about.

I do believe it's Ombre!

So maybe I didn't forget the word after all. Maybe I never knew it! Since I didn't recognize Ombre, I googled it and found that yes, the description does fit what I have. But if I want to find more of it, maybe I'll have better luck on the fabric websites searching for "border print"? Anyhow, I'll try it both ways and see what happens.

Once again, thanks for your help! Y'all always seem to know the answers to my goofy questions (and I do seem to have a ton of them)!

Either ombré or gradation are the terms used for the description of the fabric you described

I would check the selvage for the design name and search with that.

A border print would have designs at both edges usually. I think Ombré is the term we're looking for. Pronounced: om-bra with a long a. Fabric color running gradually from light to darker shades to give a shaded or striped effect.

I think this is a hilarious way to remember and know how to pronounce the word. I would get mixed up and call it a "cow poke"
