Use a rubber band. A lot quicker! If it folds flat, a bread tie will work, too. (Of course, you have to keep track of these items when using the tape measure but perhaps you have an extra supply to go to.)

I would not like having to roll up my tape measure each time I have used it. I want mine hanging over a hook on my board to be used instantly when I need it. And the pin cushion is not a good idea. First it would need a solid backing so the pins wouldn't poke through the back side and poke you. Then the pins would be constantly falling out from being rubbed against - - anything.

I have a thumb pin cushion which works well if I put the pins in sideways and all the way in so they don't get "rubbed" out.

The idea I got from this was to put a snap at the end of the tape to be snapped to the other side of the snap which is on my wall.

I thought the bracelet measuring tape with snaps was cute. Even usable for measuring small items.

I roll mine up after use. It only takes a few seconds. Just a habit it guess.

Be careful with the tape measures, most of them will stretch and then you won't get a correct measurement. I just put them in a small snack zip lock or hang them up.
