Thread cutt

I have a Babylock Serenade with thread cutter, and found that happens with certain brands of threads, not at all with other brands. Do some experimenting. With mine, Star thread in the short fat round spool is terrible. When I use Guttermann thread the cutter works fine.

It used to happen with my Babylock Crescendo, but the dealer was able to fix it. It is short enough even now that it sometimes will unthread if I don't have the fabric all the way under the needle, but it is much better that it was right out of the factory.

My Dream Machine 2 is doing the same thing. Especially with embroidery. Of course, I haven't done much sewing with it. Having too much fun with the embroidery. In my preferences, it has thread cutting only for foot control.

Mine is the Brother 1500, all mechanical. The Brother tech was no help at all. Said he didn't know anything about non computer machines as he couldn't run a diagnostic on it. Sad though he couldn't understand the basic functions of the machine and is repairing them. Where do these guys get certified?

Mine only does that if I do not let go and let the machine cut the thread before trying to pull it out, or I forget to leave the presser foot down until it is done cutting. When the sounds all stop, touch the “cut thread” button, and wait, then lift the presser foot and remove. Be patient and see if that helps?
