Working full time I wasn't able to watch her often but did when I could. I just watched her do that live show on Facebook. It was really fun. She is a very precious lady. Love how she has quilters into her home after a retreat.

I watch her show all of the time. She is on once a week here on RFD channel. I just love watching her however the shows are old. Don't know if she is making any new ones or not. Met her at the Road To California quilt show one time and she was so nice and friendly. I have most of her books and enjoy them so much to make a quilt from.

I recently found out that she had passed away. I too loved her shows and her books, met her at Paducah and she was very friendly towards everyone she met. She will be missed by many quilters.

What?? Are you sure? Nancy Zieman passed away last year, are you thinking of Nancy?

Yes, to Eleanor! She is such a genuine person. I went to a weekend retreat in California in the mid-1980’s. All the meals were served on site...which was a new thing for me at that time. Her patterns are easy to understand and go together well. She finds the easy way to do things! Eleanor’s life story is one of determination and creativity!

I laughed when I read about her throwing scraps over her shoulder and I wonder if this is why she does it, especially since she is a "stripper", too. Gypsy Rose Lee (google her if you don't recognize her name) had a talk show in the 60s or 70s, and she always drank tea. She would take the used bag, put it in the bowl of her teaspoon, wrap the string around the neck of the spoon, press the lable on the bag, and flip it back over her shoulder!! Sometimes you'd see it whack the curtain behind her, sometimes you'd hear it rattle as it hit the floor. One of her guests asked her about it, and she laughed and said she had a special stagehand whose job was to pick up her spoons. "If i quit doin' that, he'll get fired, and I can't have that now, can I?" She was quite a character, just like EB.

I was not a huge Eleanor Burns pattern fan but loved her in person. Then I was introduced to her latest flying geese ruler. It goes along with her Modern Migration quilt. I am in love all over again! Having tried (and failed) at every flying geese technique I could find I have finally found a quick, efficient (very little waste) and fun technique. I made Modern Migration but couldn't stop. So I added many more geese, got a queen size quilt, and am calling it Mass Migration. I love this ruler! And Eleanor Burns.
