Don't know why I didn't think of this when answering a minute ago... I thought my Harry Barnett floorstand and laptop hoop were extravagant...but they've been worth every penny! I've loved reading everyone's must haves and have taken notes!!!

Today is the first day I've read this thread. I've received some good tips on what else I need! Also some questions; such as,what is a floorstand and laptop hoop? I have a binding machine and the comment about the binding attachment has really caught my interest as in will it fit any other brand machine? I would like to do the 1/2 ".
My contribution to the topic is my Juki straight stitcher. I started out looking but felt the price was too much for a straight stitch only machine. But I kept looking and researching because I knew I wanted one, mainly for the speed . Brother seemed to be the cheapest but the reviews were mixed, and I thought I might like the Juki better. So I took into consideration that a lot of the bad reviews were probably operator errors. So I decided on the Brother just because of price. Went to Amazon, they were out of stock, found out Walmart online carried it. Almost ordered it then decided to look one other place and they had an older model Juki at about the same price as the Brother!!! Did I say that these machines, no matter the brand, are basically the same machine? And one other thing that I wanted was the thread cutter on the foot pedal(LOVE IT!) This machine is the only machine I use now. Al the others are collecting dust.
I will go back and re-read this thread to take more notes on all the great ideas and suggestions.
BTW, the rotating mat is good for trimming and squaring up blocks. You don't have to disturb the fabric, just cut on two sides, rotate the mat, cut the other two sides.
I still use my JT cutting ruler but I can't remember if it falls in this category or not because I bought it so long ago I don't remember what it cost; but it's a keeper. I will replace when needed.
