Two movies scared me as a kid. One was The Thing about a creature they dug out of the ice in Antarctica. I believe James Arness played the creature. At one point he was walking down a hallway that unfortunately was very much like the hallway that lead to my bedroom. I was shaking in bed until my sister got up and turned on the light for me.

The other movie was called Tarantula. It was about a science experiment gone wrong that resulted in a giant tarantula. One scene had it crawling over a mountain. My job at that time was to take the garbage to the can at the back of the garage. No light back there. I could just imagine that giant tarantula crawling over the mountain and just threw the garbage in the direction of the can and ran.

Night of the Living Dead (zombies). I saw it in college, and some of it was filmed at the grandmother's house of a college classmate of mine. It was especially freaky for her to see zombies breaking into "grandma's" house! I never watched it again.

I get scared at the sound of the Jaws music and lots of other somewhat silly things. I have to admit that one book that scared me - although I read all the way to the end - was The Life of Pi!

Carrie scared me at the end as I wasn't expecting it.
I have watched The Birds at least 4 times and have been totally engrossed in it each time. It never scared me but I think it's one of the greatest movies.

That movie affected my brother for years after seeing "Lagoon" in the early 50s. We watched it a few years ago and the zipper was visible on the Creature's costume! Kids are so easy!!!!

I've only watched one horror movie in my life ... Poltergeist. I was about 13 years old, and my parents wouldn't let me watch anything scary because my imagination would run wild.

Well, I watched it on my little black and white TV in my bedroom, with the sound down low and the door closed, so I wouldn't get caught.

My parents never found out, but they didn't need to, because I learned a big lesson the hard way! That movie scared the living daylights out of me, especially the scene with the guy's face and the sink (gross!!!). No more scary movies, ever!

The book "Salems Lot". I was working 3rd shift at that time, and never could figure it out, but somehow a bat got into my apt. Scared the bejeesus out of both me and my cat. Had to call a friend to come over and get it out
