I made some bargello's and then decided if I could do that I could make a double wedding ring. Not so scary now!

That was my challenge with the Dogs in Sweaters. It had 1" cut squares and 1" x 2" rectangles. I also learned how important that scant 1/4 inch seam is.

I have a summer in the park top that I made in 2013. I used a lot of beautiful watercolor florals from a jelly roll by Kathy Davis. I've decided to finish it with an applique border. I don't like to do hand work but I love the look of applique, and it just seems to be what I want to see on this quilt, so I'm going to push myself to do it. However, every time I walk into the sewing room I see things I'd rather do, so outcome is still iffy and perhaps a long way off.

I did the Farmer's Wife 1930's blocks, working through the whole book. I made them all paper pieced, to learn pping. Finished all of the blocks, but PPing is still not something I love. I view it more as a necessary evil, sometimes needed.

I also challenged myself to learn needleturn applique by doing a Hawaiian quilt... and hand quilting too. It was my first needleturn and I'm happy with it, but probably won't ever do another one.

Now I have just bought a LA, so my new challenge is to learn how to get better at using it.

Finished two baby quilts and quit for a while with a pretty bag from a kit. Deciding on my next project.

seems like almost every quilt is a challenge! But lately it's the Judy Niemeyer PPing quilt.

I just finished a rail fence Christian Cross. I couldn’t find my pattern so I worked from a pix. I got quite a way along when I realized I hadn’t used the right length of strips. It really affects the finished cross. So I had to tear out the ends & figure out where I’d messed up. Then add too each pc. It was hard because you use opposite order of strips on ea side. I almost tossed it out but couldn’t let it defeat me. It’s all finished now.

I am just now finishing the Syvia's Bridal Sampler with 140 6" blocks....most blocks were new to me. Learned so many new techniques....

My next challenge is a Baltimore Album quilt. Took 5 months to find all the fabric for it so I'm ready after I finish the SBS. I've never done an entire quilt of applique so that will be more of a challenge then the applique....though there are some new techniques I'll be learning, namely dimensional appliquing...

I bought an HQ Sweet Sixteen, it was at an estate sale. It included the True Stitch Regulator, tons of rewound bobbins, the table with the overlay and the two side extensions. I made an offer of $2500. and they took it! It's been a huge learning experience, frustrating and fun.

I’ve thought about this and I really have no desire to challenge myself with piecing. My long arm Avante is enough of a challenge to me.
