Did Jenny Doan know we are working on 9-patches? See her newest video:

BTW, love the blocks that have been posted. I'm working on mine, slowly.

Did you notice her 9Ps were the scrappy and white kind? 5 colors and 4 whites.

Would it be any kind of white or ???? I agree with taking a break. Also, I do think it would be fun to make scrappy nine patches with white. Would we be able to use fabric from previous swaps in the color?

I enjoy combining fabrics and I actually name each combination. A few are: Frost garden, Glow! Chandelier, Klimt in the marsh and Autumn in Central Park. I know it is ridiculous but the names comes to me as I work on them. I will work on figuring out how to post pictures from phone this weekend. So far, I have been more interested in sewing.

Darcyshannon, oh, that's cool that you think of names for your 9patches! You have a very creative mind. :-)

I'm not keen on a 9patch with white. I know that using white is sort of classic for quilts, but I get tired of it -- white, cream and WOW, etc. I'd much rather use a constant color in every block if we were going with that type of idea.

I do like the idea of scrappy with yellow. The white is appealing to me too because white alternating scrappy is "on my list". Unfortunately, my wishes for my blocks don't really suit a swap as they're specific: 5 different light or medium tonals in each 9P (so no duplication of fabric in a single block) and the same white used throughout the entire top. My wish list would really leave me out of this one. Please don't make any decisions based on my likes.

Also, I'm up to almost 60 blocks for the current swap. I may stop there as I'll have more than enough for a second quilt. We'll see. I think I'm beginning to burn out on them. Finally. And the Boom is going to start soon so I've got to shift my focus.

Maybe we will schedule a good break between this and the next round. I think we all might burn out on 9ps, otherwise.

What constant color did you have in mind?

I thought about scrappy alternated with white because so many patterns use them.

I like the sound of scrappy and white! Single Irish Chain is the first pattern that comes to mind.

Love the scrappy idea! I have a gazillion unique 2-1/2" squares from previous swaps that would be perfect for that.

As far as background color, white works for me, but black could be a fun twist, too. Black really makes other colors pop.

Happy Memorial Day weekend! Here in Michigan it is 90 degrees today - yikes! It was 50 degrees a week ago. Too much of a change for me. I worked on some blocks yesterday -- I think I got 5 sets done. I have fabric ready to do more but this heat is sapping the energy out of me! Or maybe it was subbing in a preschool room this morning! Or both!
