I used Duck in the quilting process of this piece. Layering: back, Duck, cotton batting, wool batting, top. (Then quilted). This piece hangs beautifully. The second photo is as it (they were) was displayed in a local quilt shop (2months). The other two pieces do not have the Duck.

First photo: original design
Two lower quilts: practice pieces from Judy Madsen online class.

A wooden dowel inserted into the bottom rod pocket will add enough weight to keep the quilt straight and flat against the wall.
Oh thank you so much Nita. I do think that bottom rod pocket may be called for. This quilt is about 2.5 ft. x 4 ft. Should I add the rod pocket when I do the binding?

Very creative! I think you interpreted the photo extremely well.

Very neat art quilt, Linda! I'd suggest using a regular quilting cotton for the backing. Sewing the hanging sleeve, and one for the bottom when doing the binding makes the process go quicker, IMHO.

Thanks for the info, and kind words all! One last question... What size dowel would I need for the top so it won't sag from the weight? Something like a broom handle?

What a wonderful idea. I never would have thought to try to make windows like that. You're amazing.

Just FYI, I did go for the cotton backing and adding the batting. I added hanging tabs to the top and that made it very stable and straight, so I skipped the bottom rod pocket. I used some scraps of red, black and white fabrics for the backing so it can be reversed for a change of pace.
