Default Need help finding a Willcox & Gibbs part

    Hello everyone,

My name is Jay. My mom collects and uses vintage machines. A couple of years ago I was able to purchase an old Willcox and Gibbs machine for her as a gift. She loved using it and after some time the shaft that holds the needle broke. In the first picture you will see the broken part. There is a threaded portion with a nut where the needle feed into the shaft that is broken. It broke right where the needle inserts and you tighten a nut that compresses the needle in place. I am sorry I do not know what this piece is called. Please forgive my ignorance in not knowing much about sewing or the machines for that matter. I have attached some pictures of the machine along with the broken part. I would greatly appreciate any assistance in locating this part for my mom. Thank you.

The die hard collectors of really old sewing machine hang out at victoriansweatshop.com.

There are even some guys over there who make parts. If I had your problem, that's where I would go.
