19th Mystery Quilt Train Ride
#523
Angela, your quilt is beautiful and all your points are perfect. I wish I could get mine like that!. I really liked how this one turned out too and as I working on getting rid of HEAPS of scraps, I have started on another, only queensize this time for a Christmas present. I just have to buy 6 yards background, based on 1 1/2 yds for lap size. I've so far done 36 medallions for the centres. Starting on the snowballs this week.

way to go, m-fay, can't wait to see your quilts.
But you may need a bit more than 6 yards, I remember I bought 6 for a queen, and don't remember how much more I had to buy. It wasn't much but 6 didn't do it. I guess what I am suggesting, is don't buy your backing until the top is done! I just check my cheat sheet I had found someplace and they said 7-1/2 yards, but that seems excessive. But then, some people make a more generous queen than others.

Mine took about 7.5 yards for the background and binding. It finished at 78x90. I bought all that was left on the bolt and know it was right around that, maybe a bit more. I have a very small scrap left over. I figured what I needed for the binding and then figured out what the max I could make my borders, and went with that.
