In 1853 my great great grandfather sent a letter from Council Bluffs, IA to Harrisburg, PA., and it cost him 50 cents.

I think postage in this country is extremely reasonable. Sure it has gone up, but no more than everything else.

i challenge anybody to get into their car (or onto a plane) to get a letter from the east coast to the west coast.
i'm pretty sure it would be a bit more than the cost of a stamp.
and take longer.

As far as time - that would depend - I've had a letter take over a week to go less than 50 miles. I've also had mail get from Minnesota to Florida in two days.

agree ! A cup of coffee cost $2.75 last week at a cafe. X 100 cups = $275.00.

According to the Federal Reserve that would be about $15.06.

The Post Office has a book on what you cannot ship to individual countries. There is also a list of items that the Post Office will not ship.
