My latest 66 Singer
This was on the ground at a flea market a couple weeks ago.
It would only turn about
10 degrees at the handwheel. I thought "parts machine"
But sometimes you have to reconsider your initial thoughts. I got out the oil bottle and kept at it. Took out part of the drive system for the bobbin and re-installed everything. Now it just has a few degrees of significant drag. Guess I am not done yet.
I hadn't seen a pincushion like this. So, yep it has pin rash on the pillar. Oh well.

It might polish up nicely. Rust comes off in my exerience, my 201 had a bit behind the face plate, but after about a year of use and regular maintanance it's gone. I didn't even work hard at it. Other parts took quite a bit of effort to get clean and again though.

What an odd place for the pin rag. Usually the pin rash is right in front. Maybe the owner was left handed and didn't like to reach across the area where the take-up lever would be.
Nice of you to rescue this old girl.
