2. I can handle the straight machine quilting but am wondering about the
binding. I always sew the binding on the front by machine and then finish it
by hand on the back. I'm not sure how I can finish the binding neatly by
machine. How do you all finish yours.

Looking forward to answers so I can order a kit and, hopefully get started using
my stash.

Thanks.

Hmmm...good question regarding the binding. I too usually hand sew the binding in the back. I'll just make sure that the binding is wide enough that I can use a zipper foot and stitch in the ditch from the front?

I guess we can use the pillow method of assembling the quilt but binding would make the edges stronger, especially if bound with bias. If using binding, the instructions say that it should be no more than 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide. No reason is given but perhaps the quilts fair better that way with the frequent washings.

I want to get in on this project. Ordered my kit today and can't wait to receive it.

skipping to the mailbox. I signed up in the last couple of days as well. I donate from my own stash to various charities, but am excited to see what a kit might consist of. I don't have a lot of kid stuff anymore.

You can certainly use your own fabric. I also normally hand stitch the back of my binding and am new to machine quilting, as well.

I attached the binding by machine with hidden stitches under the double fold bias tape and brought my clean (folded) edge to the back and then straight stitched over it. I did go back over the corners twice for frequent washing. I received a note back that I can request kits whenever I'm ready, so I imagine it was an acceptable technique.

The next time I do a set, I'll be sure to put my bias binding on the back first and bring it around front for a nicer presentation...but I'm sure little kids don't care about my nitpicking!! =)

I don't think we have a program like this in Canada. I'd like to do one.

Once again I have no pics, but, I sent my two quilts back to QFK last Wednesday (Feb 10) and I received the email on Monday that QFK's received them. I had ordered a new kit on last Wednesday also and today (Feb 17), I recieved the Race Car fabric. Isn't too cool. I'm off and sewing. One day I am going to learn how to post pics.

Hi Guys:
Our quilt group has been working on Quilts For Kids project. I'm now ready to mail MOST of the quilts we've made...I still have a couple from my stash that I'm quilting on but they'll be ready by Wed. Before shipping them off I wanted to share them with you. These were made by 5 of us in our quilt group. It's been a very fun project.
