    Unhappy polyester batts

I have an old polyester batt that I had in a bag, but it got dusty. Is there any way I could wash it or???? I do hate to throw it out as it is about 102x108 and a nice thick one. Any help, suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks

I would use it in my quilt and wash the quilt afterwards.

If your dryer has an air cycle, toss it in and let it go for a few min. That will remove a lot of the dust. Then use in a quilt and wash the afterwards.

By all means, use it and then wash the quilt. Do not vacuum it on the surface because you will tear it up. However, you might be able to use a low suction vacuum through a piece of fabric over the batt. The suggestion about the air cycle is probably OK. Just remember, it is fragile in its current state.

I think the dryer would be fine. I always put a batting in the dryer to help get the folds out before I use it.

The Warm Company recommends these steps if you want to pre-wash their polyester batting (Soft and Bright):
    Pre-Wash & Care Instructions

Hand Wash with mild detergent. Do not agitate or spin in washer.
Soak for 20 minutes, rinse several times.
Squeeze out water. DO NOT WRING. Rolling in a towel helps.
Dry in a warm dryer or lay flat to air dry.

I would do as some others have suggested and make a quilt and then wash and dry it. All should be good.

depends - i have/had some polyester battings that have held up well in the quilts,-

but were very "loose" - t think they were "glazed" to sort of hold the fibers together.

if your batting is like that, i would handle it as little as possible to keep it from tearing/shredding apart before it was quilted.

Try tossing it in the dryer for about 10 minutes with a clean, damp towel. It will remove a lot of the dust.
