Making cutting fabric easier
Not sure if this is 'news', but it was for me. I was watching Donna at Jordan Fabrics cut some fabric and she used a hand weight - 5lb - on the end of her ruler to keep it in place. I have always had trouble with it moving just a tad until now. It's just a little tip but oh so big if you have a problem getting a straight cut. :-) I've seen where some people fold the fabric twice to make the cutting edge smaller but I would get a bow when I tried this. Hope this helps someone. :-)

I also started using a weight after seeing it on Jordan Fabrics. It works wonders.
For folding twice and cutting, I was having the same issue as you, so I posted a question. There is lots of good info on my thread, but Prism gave me the exact answer I needed. Maybe it will help you.

I use them too......my daughter left a variety of weights from her "weight training days" in her old bedroom when she moved away from home. Her bedroom became my sewing room and her weights became mine....finders keepers! LOL!!!
