Joan, I agree about the high price of ice cream 'out'. Especially at those places where you make your own soft-serve yogurt sundae. That soft yogurt is so heavy, and they charge by the ounce. Quite a racket.

Finally got Native Cubes assembled, the last row is on and quilted. Now for the "binding" I have something fun and different planned, hopefully I'll get it done this coming week, I will post pics when it is finished.

Well, yesterday was a big day. I went to the Nutcracker at the Keller auditorium in Portland with a new friend (I moved in March of this year) and then out for an early dinner. Janice, to answer your question, I used to go quite a bit when I lived in Seattle. This was my first experience here and my friend treated me as my Christmas gift. I will have to check into their season in Portland.

Afterwards, I had another new friend come over who lives really close and we made cookies and decorated them. The ironic thing is I met her at my gym and what do we do, bake and frost cookies. Hah! We didn’t stop until pretty late. It was a fun-filled day and I am so grateful for the moments.

Yes, ice cream out can be a lot depending on where you go. I think part of the cost is not just the food as when you go to a store, but the retail space to set, napkins, water etc. It is a nice treat, especially when going to a well-known place. Have you heard of Molly Moon Ice Cream? I ask because they have a recipe book and so have been heard about even outside the local area.

We live in Braum's country, great ice cream, not that pricey for an ice cream shop (they also have little mini grocery stores and hamburger / sandwich type restaurants built into the ice cream shop)

Darcyshannon, the ballet and cookie making sounds wonderful. And good for you making some new friends. New doors opening up and all that. . When I was a teen, before I drove, my friends and I used to ride our bikes the back way through neighborhoods in order to reach Carvel out on the highway. We went at least once a week in summer. A number of years ago, a Carvel opened up in my town, so hubby and I went. I darned near had a stroke when I saw the prices. We enjoyed our ice creams that day but decided we’d not be going again. I’ll grab a half gallon of nice IC at the grocery when we’re in the mood and still come out way ahead.

My my eldest son and his dog will arrive this afternoon by car. (My younger son is here already.) This will be a first. The dog is very small but my dogs aren’t fond of other canines so this introduction has to be done well. If it doesn’t go well, we’ll have to keep them separated which would be a disappointment. Wish us well!

Kass - you see so much in fabric - I suppose that is the first step - to "see" the designs inside a design!

All was going well until Saturday evening. I was cleaning up after an early dinner. DD, 4yo granddaughter and 91 year old mother took Annie, our 12 yo golden doodle around the block. An unleashed dog attacked Annie without warning. knocked her over and attacked abdomen before hooking onto her neck and ear. When finally the owner sauntered over and took dog off Annie - he actually smiled and laughed. Nothing said. They got back to house - all 4 in shock. We took her to Pet Emergency and she was sewn back together. Animal Control doesn't answer or return calls. I know the dog had to be taught such actions, and I won't say what I would like to happen to the owner. Yesterday we all laid low - emotional to say the least. today Annie did finally consent to leave the property do her duty, and she is acting much better - healing physically anyway. We refuse to allow it to destroy Christmas.

Oh my Tgma, that is so horrible, you are lucky the dog didn't attack the people, a 4 y/o and a 91 y/o could have done little to protect themselves. Healing thoughts for Annie's recovery and a resolution to the problem.
