    Default applique question!

    I am in need of making a baby quilt for a friend she likes Cookie Monster i can not find any patterns for cookie monster so i was going to create an applique. so my question is has anyone used Minky or a furry type fabric to applique with ? will it adhear? any tips or help?

    You can't iron Minky, because it will melt. But, you can use a washable glue stick or Roxanne's Glue-baste-it. Maybe you could stitch it down with a basting stitch before you finish the raw edge?

    I imagine there might be an embroidery machine design for Cookie Monster, but don't know if you have an embroidery machine. I don't have one, but I've seen some really cute things done with minky on an embroidery machine.

    I do have an Embroidery/Sewing machine I was going to make a onsie with an embroidered cookie monster in it. I found some cute embroidered designs but no quilt designs . Thank you for you idea on the glue stick

    There is a quilt pattern book of all the Sesame Street characters, just fyi.

    What about looking for a coloring book with Cookie Monster characters in it? I know my aunt used coloring books for a lot of patterns she needed.

    Check out "Fandom in Stitches" and go to Muppet Characters. There is a Cookie Monster paper pieced pattern there.

    I just finished a little quilt with a teddy bear on it. I used fleece. I'd do it again as the edges won't fray and Teddy is very soft. He should launder well, too. I have no experience with minky.

    Remember everyone, Glue Baste IT glue is Elmers. Don't waste your money on refill GBI glue. LOVE THEIR APPLICATOR! Buy Elmer's or any water based white glue and fill up that GBI applicator.

    I used fake fur to make a jungle cat quilt for my DGD and hand tacked them down.

    I make alot of my appliques using color book pages, I just enlarge them to the size that works for the current project. I have not appliqued with minky but alot of other "non-applique type fabrics" and have not had any trouble going around the edges after glueing or with laudering.
