I love this quilt and all the beautiful fabrics. I am so new to piecing but do sew. I understand how to cut the fabric because I have the Block magazine from Missouri Star Quilt Co, Fall Vol 4 Issue 5. In it is the Grand Adventure Quilt and it shows how to cut strips like this. However, now don't laugh when I ask this. How do you sew around that center black square in this quilt you've just made? I am assuming the 4 strips are sewn together, making 4 set of 4 strips for each block but for the life of me, sewing around that little sq eludes me. Roll your eyes at me or laugh but tell me how you piece it in!

It's called a partial seam. First you make the 4 blocks of strips and lay them out. Take the bottom right one and sew from about midpoint to the end. Take the next square and sew all the way across, then the top left and sew the same way. Take the bottom left and sew to the top left then sew the bottom left to the bottom right and stitch all the way to the middle square to where you started stitching. I'm sure if you google it you will be able to find picture directions. It really isn't hard once you've done the first one and understand what you are doing.

I thought it must be a partial seam to start out, but it's such a small square (must be 2 1/2inch to start) by the time you've gone around it on all four sides it would end up 1 1/2 inch. To me that seems like it would be hard to sew around!
