2019 UFO Challenge

I have no problem resisting all that needleturn applique, but I loved looking at all the pictures and reading the stories on that site... especially about Louisa May Alcott. Thank you for the link, OKsewglad. I have one of Barbara Brackman's books and I started making all the blocks from it, in order. It is... alas... a UFO.
Givio... sometimes 'progress' is two steps forward and one step back! Nice pile of 'rippage'.

Pretty colors, givio...I can see this used with a technique I saw where you place washable film on top and stitch the fibers with FMQ (random). Then wash the piece to dissolve the film and you have new fabric. Looking for a link now.
Found it!

Pretty Straight forward applique and a good one to get your feet wet. colorway not so different than JK...just fabric prints different since reproduction and not modern fabrics. No polka dots on this one...lol.. I printed out pattern so I'll see what I have access to...if not, I just collect patterns as they become available.. Loving the stories shared....

Wow, wonderful finishes. I'm a UFO dropout right now since I received 3 quilt tops to be finished (plus a bunch of orphan blocks). I can't count the tops as my UFOs -- they were given already completed. Plus I started three more quilt along projects (of course I did!). So... even though no UFOs so far this month, I have been a busy quilter.

Pearl40, Looks like a disappearing 9patch? It looks like you collected quite a variety of B&W prints! Nice job.
OK, another way to make that idea that I've seen is to use netting-- a large hole netting over the top of the threads and fabric trimmings. If you use a fine small hole mesh then you can't see the pieces through it well. It can make an interesting wall hanging. I've seen them decorated with large embroidery stitching, sequins, beads, etc.

So great to see someone getting quilts finished...way to go, folks!
Yes I have seen it done with the netting, too.
I did get a homespun top done from stash and plan on getting some 90" wide Minky to put on the back for my GSon. That's on hold until I get our taxes done...back to the salt mine!

Pearl40: Very nice quilt!
Belfrybat: You are just taking a break from UFO's. Enjoy finishing the tops given to you. Orphan blocks are fun too.
Oksewglad: Glad you got your top done. Taxes, ugh! Mine are simple to do but gathering the information and making an appointment to get them done is another thing.
Sinus infection and fluid on my ears set me back this past week. I finally felt better and was trying to get my UFO borders on and ran into a bit of a problem with one of the sides. It went on beautifully but I had the wrong colors matching. GRRR! Jack and I took out almost 88" of stitching. Heading down to sew again and hope to finish the last of the borders while listening/watching to the All Star basketball game.
