As soon as I saw your quilt I thought "Serenity" and then I read the first response to your question, Serenity.

What a lovely, calming quilt you made. Beautiful job!

Beautiful, beautiful piece! Your vision of the foam using lace is brilliant. Is that lighthouse up in Maine? Looks so much like one we visited on the southern tip (just because I wanted to say I've been in Maine). Can't recall the name of it, but it's red and white and sits on a cliff much like that one.

I like her book, she has such good landscape ideas. Hmmm, names. I think anything like: Peace, Serenity, At the beach or even names that are simple, Lighthouse, Ocean or Seaside. Most people are going to chose based on quilt so if in an auction book, a descriptive name may help recall.

While I have been to Maine, this quilt was not designed from a photo. Just a place that I visited in my imagination. When I was designing this rocky cliff scene, I decided to add the lighthouse as a distant focal point.

Wow. I hope the people taking a chance on it are appreciative of the care and details you have included. And I hope it brings a lot of money.

Tinker, the book I referenced for designing this quilt is "Accidental Landscapes" by Karen Eckmeier. Karen does not give you a pattern, per se. Rather, she gives you step-by-step instructions on how to design your own landscape, according to her technique. It is a very good book, in that you will have all the "tools" you need to create similar landscape quilts. So much fun ... I could create this type of landscape quilt forever and not get tired of it :-)
